Puppy Lifestyle, Potty Training and Personalities

All puppies should be vet checked, receive up-to-date vaccinations, come with a health guarantee, have an AKC reunite microchip, and be socialized before being purchased. ~ Peggy Martin

Puppy Lifestyle

We strive to do everything we can to provide you with a healthy, happy, well adjusted, and highly socialized puppy. Every puppy in our kennel is picked up and played with at least twice a day by an adult (not including the time the kids spend with each puppy). Our puppies are raised in big pens under a unique system that makes our puppies easy to house train.

Their life is filled with constant interaction between other animals and people. At 6 weeks old and weaned from their mother, the puppies are placed in a large pen along with lots of toys and teddy bears, and have a designated area on the green turf pad to do their bathroom business (every puppy is sent home with a green turf pad). Weather permitting, the puppies are put in an indoor pen with a doggy door that allows the puppies to go outside and play. As nighttime approaches, all our sweet puppies are put up in the indoor only pen.

Puppies are introduced to the reward system where they receive a sweet and delicious treat, Dannon All Natural Yogurt, for adhering to our requests. Our customers have written us many letters over the years expressing their puppy's love of treats for good behavior. Who wouldn't want a sweet treat?

We take special care of our babies and want to make sure they will have a happy home once they leave us. ~ Peggy Martin

Potty Training

Taking care of "business" for puppies is a big deal, which is why we begin at an early age for all of our puppies. Every puppy that leaves our ranch will go home with a green turf pad (Clean Go Pet Indoor Dog Potty) for doing their "business" on. The Clean Go Pet Indoor Dog Potty is a popular product among our customers because it's easy to wash and reuse. Plus, the puppies seem to take to it pretty fast and cannot play with it like they do a piddle pad or newspaper.

At 4 weeks old, we begin to housebreak our puppies. Wild dogs do not go to the restroom in their den and we follow nature and teach our puppies to follow this natural rule. Our puppies are taught not to use the restroom in their pen where their blankets, food and water reside. The mother dog goes to the back of the pen and the puppies follow her at an early age as dogs will often use the restroom where other dogs are gone, and their mother is a perfect example to follow.

At about 6 weeks old, after the puppies have been weaned from their mother, we set up their new homes making a very distinct "home" area with their blanket, water, food and a very distinct "potty" area or blank space. While at the ranch, the puppies are put in a pen where they learn to go outside through a doggy door into a long dirt pen where they play and then, by nature, go as far away from the home as they can to use the potty or restroom.

We recommend an 8 sided wire pen, which can be used during the day and when you are not available to watch them closely. The reward system is key to potty training. When using the pen be sure to set up the pen close to the potty area then when you notice they need to use the restroom immediately take them outside then praise and reward them with a treat. When you have to leave them in the pen or unable to watch them closely, leave the pen open and they will go in the area you have designated away from their "home", which is their "potty" area.

Puppy Personalities and Choosing Your Puppy

As a Licensed Breeder in Texas (TDLR License #140) with an excellent reputation, we believe our operation allows us to provide you with puppies whose personalities align with that of your own. We spend day and night with our beauties, that's 7 days a week! We "color code" puppies by each of their own personality. We know which puppies are more aggressive or who's more laid back. Also, we mark the ones that "roll easy" and settle down more quickly. We advise you to visit our ranch outside of Mason, Texas to see the puppies for yourself as you will immediately fall in love with your next puppy.

To protect the health of our puppies (and adult dogs), visitors cannot enter the kennel area as our vet, Dr. Cordes (Menard Animal Clinic) restricts doing so. Visitors may stand at the front of the kennel area and visibly see the entire kennel. We adhere to the TDLR laws against animal cruelty (stacked cages, no exercise or interaction, poor living conditions that lead to illness and social behavior disorders) and the Sight-Unseen law that prevents breeders from providing a non-refundable deposit. Our deposits will hold the puppy, we will not cash your deposit. Read more about our Deposit Policy.

Taking Your Puppy Home

All our puppies (and adult dogs) receive consistent health care including shots and worm prevention, which is why we will vet guarantee the health of your puppy. If your vet doesn't feel our guarantee is correct then you may return for a full refund. We provide detailed health records that are sent home with you and your puppy. We comply and exceed TDLR laws and recommendations.

So, what goes home with your puppy? We send you a sweet bundle of joy, the puppy, and an assortment of goodies like a bag of chicken & rice all natural blend puppy food as well as their old toys and blankets. It's imperative to keep the blankets and toys for 2-3 days and slowly introduce your puppy to new their new blankets and toys.

We raise healthy, happy and highly socialized Bichon, Cavachon and Westie puppies.
